Last Friday, 10th of July, we met our first major milestone with the purchase of land at 136 Adelaide Road for our cohousing apartment building, the first in Wellington.
Settlement on the land was a perfect occasion for members to meet onsite and break out the bubbly and cake. We were joined by the previous owners, Penny and Bryan of Kia Ora Sheetmetals, and by the media.
The path to this milestone started some two years ago with the formation of UHC. Since then we have found the land for purchase, contracted Spacecraft Architects to design our apartments, almost gained a full quota of members, worked on building our community, and much much more.
Demolition of the old Kia Ora building on the site has started.
