The bulldozers have been busy at 136 Adelaide Rd. The old Kia Ora Sheetmetals building is no more. All that remains is the concrete floor and we now have a clear site ready for further geotechnical and contamination investigations.
We are indebted to the wonderful demolition crew who worked carefully to save us a pile of bricks which we intend to use for paving in our garden and courtyard.
We’re pleased to have been able to retrieve some materials from the old building and reusing them will be a nod to the site’s past. We wonder if the Governor General watched the activity from her home on the hill opposite.
One day we’ll be able to wave at her; from one ‘des res’ to another.
